MISTREE Partners with Ustigate to Deliver Complete Global Installations

From the first site plan to final commissioning, MISTREE can now be delivered as a complete, professionally managed installation through its partnership with Ustigate.

A striking piece of architecture may be what people notice first, but a successful public-space installation depends on everything that sits behind it. Groundworks, water systems, pipework, electrical connections, lighting controls, landscaping and commissioning all have to work together.

That’s particularly true of MISTREE. Combining a sculptural stainless-steel structure with ultra-fine evaporative cooling and programmable DMX lighting, it’s as much an engineered installation as it is an architectural feature.

To help projects move from concept to completion, MISTREE has partnered with Ustigate as its global delivery and installation partner.

One project, one coordinated delivery partner

MISTREE is manufactured in Britain using marine-grade stainless steel, but delivering the finished installation involves considerably more than positioning the structure on site.

Ustigate can work with project teams from the early planning stages, helping determine where MISTREE should sit, how it integrates with the surrounding landscape and what infrastructure is required to support the finished installation.

From there, the project can progress through site preparation, groundworks, plumbing and pipework, landscaping and the installation of the MISTREE itself. Once everything is in place, the system is tested and commissioned before being handed over for operation.

For architects, landscape architects, developers and contractors, that means there is a single specialist partner coordinating the practical delivery of the installation rather than requiring multiple separate contractors to manage individual elements.

Why Ustigate?

The partnership brings together two areas of specialist expertise.

MISTREE combines architecture, stainless-steel engineering, water and lighting technology. Ustigate has been designing, building and maintaining water features since 1966 and has delivered more than 100 projects, working with architects, engineers, builders and clients from concept through to completion.

That experience is particularly relevant to MISTREE because the cooling system depends on carefully designed water infrastructure and reliable operation in demanding public environments.

Ustigate’s in-house capabilities include design engineering, hydraulic and mechanical expertise, CAD design, project management and installation engineering. Its teams can therefore consider the practical requirements of pumps, pipework, lighting, controls, electrical connections and the interfaces between the installation and the wider site.

The company’s existing portfolio includes work in public spaces and major visitor environments, including Trafalgar Square, Wembley Park, Leicester Square, Centre Parcs and Worthing Seafront. At Worthing, for example, Ustigate has worked on a public misting feature incorporating lighting, water jets, landscaping and water-management infrastructure.

That kind of experience matters when a product has to operate not just as an object, but as part of a busy public environment.

From concept to completion

The new delivery model is deliberately straightforward.

Manufacturing begins with MISTREE’s precision-engineered stainless-steel structure, produced in Britain for long-term outdoor use.

Design and site planning then establish the position of the installation, its relationship with the surrounding landscape and the infrastructure required.

Groundworks provide the necessary foundations and site infrastructure, followed by plumbing and pipework to support the evaporative cooling system.

Installation and landscaping bring the individual elements together, including the MISTREE structure, lighting and finished surroundings.

Finally, the complete system is commissioned and handed over, ready for operation. Ustigate can then provide ongoing servicing and technical support, with maintenance packages tailored to individual installations.

For a public square, hotel, resort, visitor attraction, retail destination or other outdoor environment, this approach removes some of the complexity that can otherwise sit behind an ambitious architectural feature.

Making MISTREE available worldwide

The partnership also changes the scale at which MISTREE can be considered. Ustigate’s delivery and installation network opens the product to a wider range of international projects, particularly in locations where outdoor thermal comfort is becoming an increasingly important consideration in the design of public and commercial spaces.

For project teams, the starting point doesn’t have to be a fully developed installation specification. An initial idea, site or concept can be developed with the delivery team, considering everything from positioning and infrastructure to the finished landscape.

The result is intended to be more than a cooling system added to an existing space. MISTREE is designed to become part of the architecture and experience of the place, combining cooling, light and sculpture within a single installation.

And with Ustigate managing the practical delivery, that idea can now move from drawing board to finished project with one coordinated installation partner.
